One of the most interesting animals in the lake Baïkal is the seal, or nurpa, the world n' is that the seal d' fresh water. Nurpas to use their sharp-edged claws to carve dens for their families whereas the ice is always formed. To find its den is relatively simple: to seek the bubbles d' air imprisoned in the ice after being exhaled by nurpas. You can also seek holes d' air lined in small snow-drifts by the seals. Vadim Fialkov, of the lake Baïkal Institute of limnology, reports that “the local environmental groups made pressure on the government to reduce the d' quantity; effluents which are poured in the lake. With chance, we will obtain Baïkal return in his primitive state and to maintain in this state. " To help with l' effort, l' UNESCO recommended that the lake and its area catchment to be indicated site of the inheritance mondial."
